Shakespeare's Authorships
Did Shakespeare write his plays? That is the question. Many theories have been brought to as who actually wrote the plays. One of the theories is that someone named Edward de Vere wrote the plays. It seems to be that the events are almost exact parrallel to the events in Edward de Vere's life. The theory Baconianism is the theory that Sir Francis Bacon was the only person intelligent enough to write such plays. Many famous authors have commented on such theories as to whether or not they are true. Mark Twain had stated in his essay " Is Shakespeare Dead": " I only BELIEVED Bacon wrote Shakepeare, whereas I KNEW Shakepeare didn't." Henry James wrote " I am 'sort of ' haunted by the conviction that the divine William is the biggest and most successful fraud ever practiced on a patient world." in the Letter of Henry James. The movie Anonymous is a fictionalized version of Edward de Vere, displaying that he was the true author of The Shakespearean works. People also claim that Shakepeare wasn't educated enough to write his plays. This conflicting argument will be one to stick around for a long time.
